Logan Square is named for the attractive public square that sits at its a ctive center. This great neighborhood is situated north of Humboldt Park and west of Bucktown and it has been rediscovered. For years, it was defined by its family-oriented, hardworking, ethnic population and while the best of that remains, the area has also been discovered by new and exciting groups of people. Recently, there has been an influx of artists, students, young professionals and others drawn by a bit of Bohemia in the air, affordable housing and convenient, easy access to the Big City via the CTA Blue Line.

Logan Square may not have the hip reputation of neighboring areas like Bucktown and Wicker Park, but for its residents, it does just fine and offers its own nightlife, entertainment, cafes, bistros and bars. The work of artists in the area is often on display in some of these establishments, which makes the neighborhood special and on the rise as a terrific place to live.

Just Fine Dining: The Hot Spot is a literally a colorful hot spot for a breakfast and lunch you’ll love. Buona Terra on California, transports you to Tuscany with its rigatoni and bruschetta. Azucar Tapas and cocktail bar is famous for its margaritas and Chilean sea bass. And Dunlays on the Square Sportbar is where you want to tip a beer and toast the Bears and a (hopefully) winning season. Mike’s Favorites for food include: Bang Bang Pie Shop for the best “home made” pies in Chicago, Revolution Brewing for burgers and beer, Lula Cafe for fantastic french toast and Masa Azul on Diversey for great Mexican cuisine.

Browsing Housing: Here, the home-hunter will find historical and lovely landscaped boulevards, stately Greystones and large bungalow-style homes. Along Logan and Kedzie Boulevards, many mansions can be seen. The fact that the area is on the rise has actually sparked an increase in residential development, including condominiums, brick town homes, two- and three-flats, apartment buildings, and some single family homes. In short, there’s housing for everyone in Logan Square. Begin your search by talking to Mike Kaufman of Bear Kaufman Realty, Inc. With years of experience, Mike knows this area and how to make the most out of the housing opportunities it offers. Mike says, “You don’t have to be looking on the Gold Coast to find your gem.”
